Project Row House

Project Row House! These houses were all alike but the one to my right was the only one that was painted outside. The Row Houses have many advantages and even go back since the year 1949! One of the advatages is that back then the ivention of the AC was not there yet, therefore it would get really hot during the summer so they made the houses front door go all the way back to the opposite side with a back door. The reason for this is when it would get hot they would just open both of the doors (front and back) they would feel the breeze and no longer be attacked from the heat in their own home.

 

While having a chance to go inside each of the Row House they had we noticed something... they all contained some type of art inside that was done by artist. Going through each house it was quite exciting because you didnt know what you could find in any of the houses. Each house was full with different types of art. It was amazing!

The Architecture of Buildings

       I absolutly love this picture I took when we went to visit the Chase Bank! This isnt an ordinary skyscraper, as you can see. Most of the buildings around Down Town Houston are very alike, but in this case the architecture of this specific building is incredible. There's so much detail to this bank when being observed closely.
        While having the chase bank in this type of condition and such poweful structure it would make me feel confortable saving my money there. This gives the Chase Bank an advantage to having more  customers, more money, and a good reputation about the bank!

Another unique thing that defines the bank are the paintings inside and also the material they use around the entire bank such as the type of marble used for the floors and even the materials used for the ceilings.

 

The most exciting part about this field trip was being able to go to the 60th floor of a building! Even though it isn't the highest we were still able to get higher that we all have in any other building. As we got inside the elivator I have to admot it was pretty scary knowing that you were so high off the ground! As we got on the elivator and headed out to see the city... it was just so speechless. I would say it has an amazing view for people to see and enjoy.

 

BOO!

On this field trip we went to visit Jefferson Davis Hospital which is located in Houston. This place is said to be one of the haunted places in Houston! Jefferson Davis used to be a hospital but is now an apartment complex. How creppy is that! A few more steps from the hospital you will also see a cremation building and a nurses building.

 Later on that day we went out to eat to a haunted restaurant called the Spaghetti Warehouse. We were lucky enough to eat on the second floor, which is the spookiest ! Many waiter and waitress have stories of their own that they have experiened  while working there. I was colse to experience a ghost activity but then realized that they had the door slightly open by itself once the entrence door of the retraunt was opened by someone. After seeing this I personally dont believe this restaurant is haunted.

 

The Mullet

The Mullet is a wonderful place to go if your into art! Graffiti artist from all over the world come to this very place to let their imagination flow and just paint what they feel. While walking through this place I felt very fortunate to not only see these amazing paintings but to all get a chance to meet the owner of this place. Below you'l see some paintings that caught my attention.

 

Orange Show & Art Car Museum

This week we came across a place in Houston called "The Orange Show". When I fist heard about this field trip I was thinking that it was going to be a show were everything was the color orange. Suprisingly for me it was nothing what I had in mind. To me this seemed more like a small carnival. It was very intresting and it was nice exploring the place. The weirdest part was that this place is located in a neighborhood! It was built by a man named Mr. McKissack. The Orange Show was built in the year 1979 and is located on 2401 Munger Street in Houston. Mr. McKissack had a very strong passion for oranges. He actualy believed that all you needed to eat to survive was, oranges!



 

 

 

Art Car Museum! Its a very unique event here in Houston. What does this museum consist of? Well, they choose a car and they totally transform it into a very extraordinary car! From the most craziest things that you wouldnt imagine ! But the most surprising thing about these cars is that they can actually run! Not only that,but they have an event where cars like these from all around the world come together once a year and race against each other.

Art All Around!

Art! Art is something that surrounds us everywhere we go. It comes in many unique ways. When going to the Museum of Fine Arts, located in Hounton, I was very entertained with all the spectacular paintings and statues they had for the people. I learned that art comes in several ways from paintings,statues,crowns,and more! While seeing the painting called "The Elder Sister" is was quite touching because now a days you hardly see any sisters being caring for their siblings. The painting "Woman in a Purple Coat" was very eye catching to me because of the color contrast the artist uses. Another painting i found was called "Orpheus Leading Eurydice from the Underworld" by Camille Corot is an intresting painting because of the dark color that are being used. Last but not least, my favorite painting, "The Yellow Scale" by the famouse artist "Frantisek Kupka". This painting caught my attention as soon as I looked over! Its amazing how Frantisek uses many different shades of yellow to make a whole image. By using the color yellow this painting gets the attention of anyone in the room!

Cementaries

 When we went to visit Glenwood, it was surprising !

There was many beautiful graves all around and kept in well conditions. I was very astonished to see the many varieties of tombs they had. This is a cementary were only the people with big amount of money are burried. When I was walking around the graves I was amazed of how much work the people that own Glenwood put into this cementary. Glenwood consist of very old tombs and even new ones!

 

 

 

After visiting Glenwood, we went to another cementary called Olivewood Cementary. The physical space here was super small compared to Glenwood.There was some broken and rusted tombs, surrounded with many weeds and tress all around. This cementary was for only the African Americans. Believe it or not the people buried here were one of the riches African Americans! Seeing the way the tombs were made me feel sad because it made me feel like they wernt important. They were abanded and forgotten, with no one to polish the place up.
